Green Grinch Smoothie • December Recipe

Sandra of Fueled by Raw outdid herself again this month with this naughty vegan smoothie. What is there not to love? It’s so good and so bad at the same time. Kids will chuck this one back!

WHY SMOOTHIES?

Smoothies are a great way to ensure that your kids are getting essential vitamins and minerals they need. Smoothies are also a great way to incorporate beneficial plant based superfoods into you and your families life style. Since fruits and vegetables come in a rainbow of colours there are so many different,  delicious, pretty and fun smoothies you can make.

How can you not think of the colour green in December? From Christmas Trees to Christmas Wreaths the colour green is everywhere. So it would only make sense tocreate a green smoothie for December. Automatically when I think of fruits and vegetables and the colour green I think of leafy greens. Of course, leafy greens are not the only green vegetable on the planet, but they hands down one of the best. Broccoli, peas, beans, celery, peppers, cucumbers, brussel sprouts are also great green vegetables. We also can’t forget about the amazing green fruits, grapes, apples, pears, kiwi, lime and the awesome avocado.

Green fruits and vegetables are a FAV of mine and they should be for you and yourfamily. They are loaded with Fiber, Antioxidants and Vitamins. Fiber helps to improve
the digestive system, antioxidants help protect against free radicals and boost the immune system. Vitamins A, B, C, E and K found in green fruits and vegetables protect
bones, prevent inflammation, maintain healthy skin and eyes and promote heart health. This is a great way for your kids to practice their ABC’s. This months smoothie is inspired by one of the most popular Christmas characters. Your kids might not like the character, but I guarantee your kids with love this green smoothie.

GREEN GRINCH SMOOTHIE • what and how

The Smoothie

  • 1 Cup Coconut Water
  • 1-2 Stems Kale, stem removed
  • 1/2 Granny Smith Apple, core removed
  • 1/2 Anjou Pear, core removed
  • 1/4 Avocado – FBR Superfood Add In
  • 2 Kiwi, peeled
  • 8-10 Green Grapes, frozen
  • 1/2 Banana, Frozen

The Topping

  • Thompson Raisins, sliced thin
  • Goji berry, cut in half

The Directions

  1. Add all fresh ingredients to blender and blend for approx 20-30 secs
  2. Add frozen ingredients and blend again for another 20-30 secs until a smooth consistency
  3. Make your best Green Grinch with the raisins and goji berries


FBR Tips

  • If you have a Vita-Mix you can add all ingredients at once
  • If the smoothie isn’t sweet enough add more grapes or banana
